En R\u00e9publique D\u00e9mocratique du Congo, les conditions de d\u00e9tention des femmes et des enfants restent profond\u00e9ment alarmantes. Pour y r\u00e9pondre, Ius Stella a lanc\u00e9 le programme Nyota, une initiative visant \u00e0 fournir une aide alimentaire r\u00e9guli\u00e8re aux femmes d\u00e9tenues et aux enfants vivant avec elles en prison.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Un programme complet pour les plus vuln\u00e9rables<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mis en \u0153uvre \u00e0 la prison centrale de Beni, le programme Nyota r\u00e9pond \u00e0 un besoin urgent, souvent n\u00e9glig\u00e9 : garantir un acc\u00e8s stable \u00e0 une alimentation \u00e9quilibr\u00e9e pour les femmes incarc\u00e9r\u00e9es et leurs enfants. Ce programme b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie actuellement \u00e0 75 femmes et 9 enfants, dont 13 femmes enceintes et 9 m\u00e8res incarc\u00e9r\u00e9es avec leurs enfants.<\/p>\n

Trois fois par semaine, deux cuisini\u00e8res b\u00e9n\u00e9voles se rendent \u00e0 la prison pour pr\u00e9parer trois repas par jour destin\u00e9s aux femmes et aux enfants. En leur absence, des bo\u00eetes-repas sont distribu\u00e9es pour assurer la continuit\u00e9 de l\u2019aide alimentaire. Lorsque des surplus sont disponibles, ils sont redistribu\u00e9s aux d\u00e9tenus malades, apportant un soulagement bienvenu \u00e0 ceux qui souffrent le plus.<\/p>\n

D\u00e8s son premier mois de mise en \u0153uvre, le programme a permis de servir 1 208 repas, am\u00e9liorant directement les conditions de vie et la sant\u00e9 des b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Depuis sa cr\u00e9ation, Ius Stella<\/i> \u0153uvre pour la d\u00e9fense des droits des populations les plus vuln\u00e9rables \u2014 en particulier les femmes et enfants en d\u00e9tention \u2014 \u00e0 travers des actions concr\u00e8tes visant \u00e0 garantir l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la justice et \u00e0 des conditions de d\u00e9tention plus humaines.<\/p>\n

Au-del\u00e0 de l\u2019aide alimentaire, Ius Stella<\/i> a r\u00e9cemment lanc\u00e9 un programme d\u2019assistance juridique gratuite pour les femmes d\u00e9tenues \u00e0 Beni, leur permettant de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de conseils juridiques et d\u2019un accompagnement dans leurs proc\u00e9dures.<\/p>\n

Le programme Nyota n\u2019est que le premier pas d\u2019un engagement plus large visant \u00e0 restaurer la dignit\u00e9 au sein du syst\u00e8me judiciaire congolais. Ius Stella<\/i> appelle les institutions publiques, les organisations humanitaires et la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile \u00e0 se mobiliser pour garantir \u00e0 ces femmes un acc\u00e8s digne \u00e0 l\u2019alimentation, aux soins et \u00e0 la justice \u2014 elles qui sont trop souvent oubli\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

In a country where detention conditions for women and children remain deeply alarming, Ius Stella has launched the Nyota Program, a new initiative providing regular food assistance to incarcerated women and children living in detention in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A holistic assistance program for the most vulnerable Launched at Beni Central Prison, the Nyota Program addresses an urgent and often overlooked need: ensuring that incarcerated women \u2014 and the children who live behind bars with them \u2014 have stable access to a balanced diet. The program currently supports 75 women and 9 children, including 13 pregnant women and 9 mothers accompanied by their children. Three times a week, two volunteer cooks visit the prison to prepare three daily meals for these women and children. On other days, lunch boxes are distributed to ensure continuity of care and nutrition. Whenever possible, surplus food is also redistributed to ill detainees, easing some of the daily hardships faced by the most vulnerable. In its first month alone, the program delivered 1,208 meals, directly improving the health and well-being of its beneficiaries. A commitment to justice and dignity Since its inception, Ius Stella has advocated for the rights of the most vulnerable \u2014 especially incarcerated women and children \u2014 through concrete actions that promote access to justice and more humane living conditions in detention. In addition to the food program, Ius Stella has launched a free legal aid initiative within Beni Central Prison, providing legal consultations to women in detention and assisting them in navigating their legal cases. The Nyota Program is just the beginning of a broader effort to restore dignity in the Congolese justice system. Ius Stella calls on public institutions, humanitarian actors, and civil society to join forces in strengthening access to adequate food, medical care, and legal support for incarcerated women, a population far too often neglected.
