Lorsque Rachel est intervenue pour s\u00e9parer une bagarre dans son quartier, elle \u00e9tait loin d\u2019imaginer que ce geste la conduirait \u00e0 passer plus d\u2019une ann\u00e9e derri\u00e8re les barreaux \u2014 ni qu\u2019elle ferait partie des nombreuses femmes marqu\u00e9es \u00e0 jamais par les horreurs de la tentative d\u2019\u00e9vasion \u00e0 la prison centrale de Makala.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Arr\u00eat\u00e9e sans v\u00e9ritable raison et accus\u00e9e de coups et blessures pour avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 simplement au mauvais endroit au mauvais moment, Rachel s\u2019est retrouv\u00e9e prise au pi\u00e8ge dans un syst\u00e8me judiciaire incapable de la prot\u00e9ger. \u00ab\u202fJe voulais juste s\u00e9parer un voisin qui se battait avec un homme,\u202f\u00bb se souvient-elle. \u00ab\u202fMais quand la police est arriv\u00e9e, l\u2019autre homme a point\u00e9 du doigt mon voisin\u2026 et moi aussi. Nous avons \u00e9t\u00e9 arr\u00eat\u00e9s et imm\u00e9diatement envoy\u00e9s en prison.\u202f\u00bb\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ce qui a suivi tient du cauchemar : un an et cinq mois de d\u00e9tention injustifi\u00e9e<\/strong>, dans des conditions inhumaines, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 vivre l\u2019une des nuits les plus sombres de sa vie \u2014 la tentative d\u2019\u00e9vasion de septembre 2024. \n\u00ab\u202fCette nuit-l\u00e0, vers 2h du matin, des hommes ont forc\u00e9 les portes de notre pavillon. Il n\u2019y avait pas de lumi\u00e8re. Ils ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 sortir les femmes pour les violer,\u202f\u00bb raconte Rachel, la voix tremblante. \n\u00ab\u202fJ\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019une des victimes.\u202f\u00bb\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Alors que les coups de feu retentissaient et que la panique r\u00e9gnait, il n\u2019y a eu ni protection ni secours.<\/strong>Les femmes ont d\u00fb se d\u00e9fendre seules. Et les blessures, visibles ou invisibles, restent ouvertes. Malgr\u00e9 la brutalit\u00e9 des faits, aucune aide ne leur a \u00e9t\u00e9 apport\u00e9e \u2014 ni par l\u2019\u00c9tat, ni par l\u2019administration p\u00e9nitentiaire. \u00ab\u202fIls nous ont donn\u00e9 quelques m\u00e9dicaments de mauvaise qualit\u00e9, c\u2019est tout.\u202f\u00bb\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Mais les stigmates sont toujours l\u00e0 \u2014 physiques, \u00e9motionnels et sociaux. \u00ab\u202fC\u2019est une vraie honte,\u202f\u00bb explique-t-elle. \u00ab\u202fQuand les gens apprennent que tu as \u00e9t\u00e9 en prison, ils te fuient comme si tu \u00e9tais porteuse d\u2019une maladie. Surtout apr\u00e8s ce qu\u2019il s\u2019est pass\u00e9 pendant l\u2019\u00e9vasion\u2026 les hommes ne veulent m\u00eame plus t\u2019approcher.\u202f\u00bb\u00a0<\/p>\n

Son histoire n\u2019est pas un cas isol\u00e9. Et en la partageant, nous voulons briser le silence qui entoure les abus en prison, les d\u00e9tentions arbitraires et l\u2019imp\u00e9rieuse n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de r\u00e9forme<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
